Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and an instructor from the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network celebrity with her signature spikey blonde hair and exuberant personality, shares easy to learn techniques and eliminates intimidation of restaurants dishes on her TV show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell studied and worked in some of the most prestigious New York restaurants. He was also a part of Iron Chef America and the cuisine of Italy. Growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and food early on. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in managing restaurants when she received an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America student. I enjoyed every moment." I was unable to learn enough, didn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) as she attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The time she spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impact on her own culinary perspective. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens children who are facing difficulties. She also serves as a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador, where she is an advocate for children with diabetes and awareness. She frequently travels around the country in her role as both a mentor and an invited speaker, where she talks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Through her culinary adventures, Anne has always said I feel so lucky to be able to share what I love most in life with others.
